Motor cruiser not so Tip Top after engine failure
Eyemouth RNLI called out to tow broken down pleasure boat
Eyemouth volunteers launched to a motor cruiser that had suffered engine failure while situated 2 miles N.N.E. of St Abbs Head, at 11.30 this morning, 24th March 2026.
The 14m vessel, named 'Tip Top' lost engine power on passage north to Tayport, Fife. The owners bought the cruiser just 10 days ago and are travelling to their home in Northern Ireland, along with their dog.
Eyemouth’s all-weather lifeboat ‘Helen Hastings’ was quickly launched and went to the vessel's aid. The volunteer crew set up a tow and brought the cruiser safely into Eyemouth harbour. The couple thanked the crew for their help and said they had "done a great job."
