Last Wednesday evening, 11 March 2026, at the start or our training evening, past president David Bunt and Treasurer Paul Roach from Looe Valley Rotary Club visited Looe Lifeboat Station to present three powerful torches to our duty Launch Authority Dave Robinson and volunteer crew. Making the presentation David said “it is my great pleasure to present the RNLI Looe with an illuminating gift and thank them for all the valuable work they do”

Accepting this generous donation, Dave Robinson thanked David, Paul and all at the Rotary Club, explaining how these torches will help, not only our boat crews when searching in darkness out at sea, but also our shore crews when launching the lifeboats along the riverbed in darkness or assisting with shore line searches.

Rotarian, David, explained to our crew that each year the outgoing president and Rotarians with Looe Valley Rotary Club distribute donations from money they have raised during their fundraising activities to nominated charities and good causes. A significant amount is raised from the Wishing Well close to Looe Guildhall, alongside bucket collections, charity fishing competitions, the Looe Island Swim, gala evenings, sponsored walks and quiz nights. David went on to say “Alongside RNLI Looe Lifeboat Station the Rotary Club will be donating to more than 10 local causes including SW Hospice, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Shelterbox and Looe Army cadets.

After the presentation, David and Paul watched the charity’s Atlantic 85 Sheila and Dennis Tongue II launch on exercise.
