Bangor’s B class Atlantic 85 lifeboat Ruby Robinson launched and headed over to Whitehead where it met up with Larne’s RNLI new Shannon class lifeboat Machiko Nancy.

The two lifeboats completed what are known as coming along side, towing bow to bow, and navigation exercises before returning to Bangor.

The Shannon class lifeboat was then tied up on the North Pier and volunteers from Bangor RNLI were invited to look around the new lifeboat.

Davy Eccles, Bangor RNLI Launch Authority said: ‘It was great to see the two crews coming together and completing essential training exercise out in Belfast Lough. It also gave volunteers from Bangor RNLI the opportunity to look round Larne's new lifeboat.’

The crews enjoyed a welcome cup of team and bacon rolls in the station afterwards.
