Beaumaris RNLI tasked to yacht aground in the Menai Strait.
At 6.20 pm on Tuesday 23 June 2026 the volunteer crew members of the Beaumaris lifeboat received a request from HM Coastguard to investigate a yacht reported to have grounded between Y Felinheli and Caernarfon in the Menai Strait.
The lifeboat volunteers being asked to undertake a welfare check on the occupants of the vessel and assist with deploying an anchor.
Once on scene and having established all was well with the two crew members and the two dogs aboard the craft and that no damage had been incurred due to the grounding. Bottles of water being passed to the yacht and help given in deploying an anchor, pending the incoming tide about 5.00 am next morning which should refloat the vessel.
The coastguard then released the lifeboat to return to her station arrived back at 8.00 pm to be refuelled and made ready for the next service call.
A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘The crew aboard the vessel did the correct thing in advising the coastguard of their predicament, which ensured that a welfare check could be undertaken especially with the hot weather conditions being experienced at the time.’.
