Fathers Day callout for Troon RNLI volunteers
An early morning callout on Father’s Day, Sunday 21 June 2026, saw our RNLI all-weather lifeboat launch to a 19ft fishing vessel drifting without power off the coast of Holy Isle.
With pagers activated in homes throughout Troon, the volunteer crew awoke, making their way to the lifeboat station, and the all-weather lifeboat soon launched, making best speed towards the casualty vessel.
The vessel was located and after consultation with those onboard a tow was established towards Lamlash Bay.
On arrival, the vessel was secured alongside, and the lifeboat was able to return to Troon as the sun was rising.
The all-weather lifeboat was the made ready for service, with the assistance of the shore crew, and the lifeboat crew were able to return home for some well-earned rest.
