Start of the 2025 Mulberry Fun Run

Sunday 21st June, it’s Father’s Day, it’s the summer solstice and it is the perfect opportunity to join the Southend RNLI Mulberry Fun Run and experience the thrill of reaching the iconic Mulberry Harbour one nautical mile from shore— all in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

The route is approximately 3.5km long, with two opportunities to shorten the route for those who do not wish to complete the entire course. We have a route for everyone, and participants are free to complete the route in their own time. Walk, jog, or run — it’s your pace, your adventure!

The fun run being held at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club slipway Thorpe Bay, will start from approximately 10:50am (subject to tidal conditions). RNLI volunteers will be positioned along the course throughout the duration of the event.

All participants will need to ensure they have the following:

· Appropriate footwear (following the guidance issued in the welcome pack)

· Clothes which you don’t mind getting dirty & wet

· Sip, Slop, Slap - Bring plenty of water, slop on that sunscreen and slap on a hat

A full information pack will be sent to you shortly after completing the sign-up process, containing specific timings, where to park, what to bring, what you need to do when you arrive and more.

Please note, throughout the course there are multiple sections of water which you will pass through. The deepest is approximately 10-15cm deep. Note, we may alter the course on the day for your safety.

Funds raised will go towards the running of Southend RNLI Lifeboat Station, part of the charity that saves lives at sea.

It costs around £521,000 a day to run the RNLI all of which is generously donated by the public. This means a modern fleet of lifeboats and highly trained volunteer crews are ever ready to go to a rescue from 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Republic of Ireland.
