Port Talbot Lifeboat Station Open Weekend a great success
There was a fantastic turnout by the community for Port Talbot Lifeboat Station’s Open Weekend, as the volunteer team welcomed hundreds of visitors.
Last weekend (30-31 May 2026), Port Talbot Lifeboat Station welcomed hundreds of visitors to its annual Open Weekend, which proved to be a fantastic success for all involved.
Saturday’s main attraction was the visit from a group of Newfoundland rescue dogs and their owners.
The group delighted attendees by offering rides on a purpose-built cart pulled by the gentle and well-trained dogs. The rides were extremely popular, with both children and adults enjoying the experience and learning more about the remarkable breed.
Throughout the day, the lifeboat station was open to visitors, with crew members and volunteers providing valuable water safety advice and information to members of the public.
On Sunday, the station was joined by its emergency service partners, including South Wales Police and
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. Visitors had the opportunity to view emergency vehicles and equipment, learn about the role of firefighters, and receive safety advice from emergency service personnel.
Police Community Support Officer, Stuart Lloyd, was also on hand to speak with visitors and provide crime prevention and community safety information.
Free face painting and balloon art proved popular with families and were enjoyed by children throughout the day. Swansea
RNLI Beach Lifeguards also attended, offering advice on safe swimming locations and general beach safety.
Members of the public enthusiastically engaged with the lifeboat crew, water safety team, and emergency service partners. Children particularly enjoyed the opportunity to climb aboard the lifeboat, tractor, and Land Rover, providing memorable experiences while learning about the important work carried out by the station volunteers and its partners.
Clive Morris, Port Talbot Lifeboat Operations Manager, said:
‘On behalf of everyone at Port Talbot Lifeboat Station, I would like to thank everyone who attended, supported the event, and helped make the Open Weekend such a tremendous success.’
