Five lifeboats to gather at Aberdeen RNLI Open Day
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see five lifeboats together and meet the volunteer crew who save lives at sea when Aberdeen RNLI throws open its doors for its annual Open Day next month.
The free event will take place at Aberdeen Lifeboat Station on Saturday 15 August, from 11am to 4pm, offering a fun family day out while raising funds for the charity that saves lives at sea.
Alongside Aberdeen's all-weather lifeboat (ALB) Bon Accord and inshore lifeboat (ILB) Buoy Woody-85N, visitors will also be able to see lifeboats from RNLI Stonehaven and RNLI Peterhead.
Making a special appearance will be the historic Douglas Currie, the former Macduff and Fraserburgh lifeboat, giving visitors a unique opportunity to step aboard a piece of RNLI history.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to tour the lifeboats, meet Aberdeen RNLI's volunteer crew and learn more about the work of the charity.
Representatives from HM Coastguard, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland will also be attending.
There will be plenty to keep all ages entertained, including a barbecue, RNLI merchandise, games and prizes.

"Our Open Day is always one of the highlights of the year. It's a chance for us to welcome the local community into the station, show people what we do and thank everyone for the incredible support they give our volunteer crew and the RNLI.
"Having five lifeboats together, including the historic Douglas Currie, makes this year's event particularly special. Whether you've visited us before or it's your first time, we'd love to see you there."
The event takes place from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 15 August at Aberdeen Lifeboat Station, Victoria Dock Entrance, Waterloo Quay, Aberdeen, AB11 5DF.
Entry is free and donations to the RNLI are welcome.
As a charity, the RNLI relies on the generosity of the public to help its volunteer crews continue saving lives at sea.
