Enniskillen RNLI assist four people onboard a speed boat
At 3.45pm on Saturday 25 July, Enniskillen RNLI’s inshore lifeboat, the John and Jean Lewis, was launched at the request of Belfast Coastguard, following a report that a speed boat, with four people onboard, had got into difficulty on Lower Lough Erne.
Winds were westerly, force 2 and there was good visibility.
The volunteer crew located the vessel near Rossclare, came alongside and assessed the situation. All four people onboard were safe and well. The casualty vessel was experiencing engine trouble and was drifting, so it was deemed necessary to tow the boat to shore.
Speaking following the call out, Enniskillen RNLI Helm, Andy Wilson, said: 'We would encourage anyone planning a trip or using our waterways to always ensure you have the correct equipment, to wear the appropriate gear and have a mechanism for calling for assistance if needed such as a VHF radio or mobile phone. Should you get into difficulty, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.'
