Oban Lifeboat responds to mayday from yacht

The crew of the 15 metre vessel had caught their anchor chain around their prop and reported that they were in danger of dragging ashore.

Arriving on scene, the volunteer crew of Oban’s Shannon class lifeboat, The Campbell-Watson, were able to establish that the yacht’s anchor was holding. However, it was clear that the propeller and rudder were fouled in some way and that divers would be needed to investigate in daylight.

The occupants of the yacht asked to be taken off in the meantime and were brought back to Oban, the lifeboat arriving back at its berth shortly after 1am.
