The all-weather lifeboat was launched at 8.09pm and travelled approximately five miles out to where the vessel and casualty were located. Once on scene, the volunteer lifeboat crew assessed the casualty, and were able to administer appropriate first aid before transferring them from their vessel to the lifeboat.

The all-weather lifeboat returned to shore, where the casualty was handed into the care of those responsible to transfer them to hospital. The crew then returned the lifeboat to the station, and it was made ready for service again by 9.52pm.

Rhyl RNLI Coxswain, Colin Jones, said:

‘Our volunteer crew responded promptly to assist a person who had sustained a knee injury at sea. Following assessment and treatment by our casualty care trained lifeboat crew, the casualty was safely brought ashore and handed over for onward care.

‘We wish them a speedy recovery and would like to thank everyone involved for their cooperation during the incident.’
