The milestone follows six years of incredible support, dedication and passion for the lifesaving charity. For Jordan, turning 18 marked far more than a big birthday: it was the moment he had been waiting for since his love for the RNLI began at the tender age of 12, inspired by watching the television series Saving Lives at Sea.

Despite being too young to formally join the crew until he turned 18, Jordan has spent the past six years actively supporting his local lifeboat station in any way that he can. From attending community events, to avidly observing lifeboat operations in and around his hometown of Peel, Jordan has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the RNLI’s mission.

Jordan said: ‘Joining the crew means I can learn, contribute, and be part of this essential charity which saves lives at sea.

‘I’d love to train my way up to being a coxswain one day, but for now, I’m excited to join the crew, learn everything I can and be a part of this dedicated team at Peel Lifeboat Station.

‘Over the years, I’ve seen the crew embody the RNLI’s core values of selflessness, courage, dependability, and trustworthiness, and I’m honoured to join their ranks.’

Paul Thompson, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Peel RNLI, shared his enthusiasm for Jordan’s officially joining the team:

‘We have watched Jordan grow up over the past six years and his commitment has been nothing short of inspiring. His passion and determination remind us that the future of volunteering is bright. We were delighted to not only wish him a very happy 18th birthday, but to also welcome him as an official member of our crew.

‘We hope Jordan’s journey inspires other young people to get involved with our charity in the many volunteering opportunities available. Without the dedication of our volunteers we could not continue to save lives at sea.’
