The volunteer crew launched at 12:13pm, responding swiftly to the incident. On arrival at Five Arches, near North Landing, the crew found two adults and two children in difficulty with two paddle boards. The casualties were successfully recovered and safely landed at North Landing, where they were handed into the care of the HM Coastguard Rescue Team.

While returning to station, the crew were tasked again by HM Coastguard to assist a further two paddle boarders and a dog in difficulty at North Landing that had been cut of by the tide. One casualty had taken on water and required medical attention. The lifeboat crew brought both casualties and their dog safely ashore at North Landing, where they were also transferred into the care of the HM Coastguard Rescue Team.

The lifeboat returned to station at South Landing at 1:16pm. The volunteer crew and shore crew then worked together to clean, refuel and prepare the lifeboat and launching tractor, ensuring they were ready for the next service.

Volunteer helm Karl Price said: 'Our new RNLI lifeboat Forever Yibba (B-959) handled the conditions extremely well, allowing the crew to respond quickly and effectively. The first casualties were recovered swiftly and returned to safety to North Landing.

'As soon as the first casualties were safely ashore, two crew members were required to enter the water once again to assist a further two people with paddle boards and a dog who had become cut off by the incoming tide and were unable to re enter the water as the sea was too rough or make their way to safety. The crew were able to safely assist them back to shore, they were then handed into the care of the HM Coastguard Rescue Team.'

A successful shout highlighting the dedication, professionalism and rapid response of Flamborough RNLI’s volunteer crew.
