Padstow and Port Isaac RNLI assist yacht in difficulties
Padstow RNLI and Port Isaac RNLI volunteer crew launched on Tuesday 7 July to reports of a yacht in difficulties 8 miles north-northeast of Trevose.
Padstow RNLI volunteer crew launched at 2.20pm on Tuesday 7 July to reports of a yacht in difficulties 8 miles north-northeast of Trevose.
Port Isaac RNLI was tasked as well and assisted the lone skipper in clearing the obstruction so the yacht was free of the sea bed.
Nearby fishing vessels were also tasked by the Coastguard and stood by to assist.
A Padstow crew member went aboard the yacht and carried out a casualty care assessment of the lone skipper.
With the yacht's propeller fouled and the lone skipper feeling unwell, Padstow RNLI Coxswain determined that the safest course of action was to take the yacht under tow. The yacht was towed safely to mooring in the Camel Estuary at 4pm.
Padstow lifeboat returned to the station and was refuelled and ready for service by 5pm.
