Teignmouth RNLI volunteers raise more than £6,300 at Live at Powderham
Volunteers from Teignmouth RNLI were proud to be selected as a charity partner for the Teddy Swims concert at Live at Powderham on Thursday 25 June, helping to support the event while raising vital funds for the charity.
A team of 28 RNLI volunteers assisted throughout the evening, managing VIP wristband distribution and issuing front-standing access wristbands to general admission ticket holders.
Despite a heat health warning being in place across the region, the dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly in the high temperatures, ensuring they stayed well hydrated while continuing to support the event and its visitors. Their commitment and resilience helped make the evening a huge success.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of concertgoers, the volunteers raised an outstanding £6,383.43, with every penny helping to support the RNLI's lifesaving work in Teignmouth and around the UK.
Teignmouth RNLI is incredibly grateful to the team at Live at Powderham for the opportunity to be involved in such a fantastic event, and to everyone who donated and supported the volunteers throughout the evening.
Teignmouth RNLI Fundraising Chair, Wendy Richards Wood, said:
"We are incredibly grateful to Live at Powderham for choosing Teignmouth RNLI as one of their charity partners. Opportunities like this not only help us raise vital funds but also allow us to engage with thousands of people and raise awareness of the RNLI's lifesaving work.
"We would also like to thank everyone who attended the concert and donated so generously. Raising more than £6,300 in a single evening is an amazing achievement, and every pound raised will help support our volunteer crews as they continue to save lives at sea."
Volunteer Helm Dave Matthews also took part in the event. He said:
"It was a brilliant event to be part of and it was great to support our fundraising team. There was a real buzz throughout the evening, and everyone we spoke to was interested in hearing about the RNLI and incredibly supportive of the work our volunteers do. Despite the very hot weather, everyone worked tirelessly with a smile on their face, and it was a pleasure to work alongside so many dedicated volunteers. It's not often we get the chance to speak to thousands of people in one place, so it was a fantastic opportunity not only to raise vital funds but also to raise awareness of our lifesaving service and the role our volunteers play in keeping people safe at sea."
