Wonderful Wednesday for Hastings RNLI Lifeboat Volunteers
An incredible nine volunteers passed their assessments at Hastings RNLI lifeboat station in one day.
Wednesday 14 January Crew members Sam Glassett and Gavin Steedman achieved the ‘Tier 2’ advanced all weather lifeboat standard, covering areas such as ‘man overboard’, anchoring, towing, and much more.
Glenn Barry, Richard Waring, Sloane Phillips, Jonathan Lindars, Holly Lane and Liam Melville all passed the inshore lifeboat head launcher assessments and Kevin Boorman passed his lifeboat press officer assessment.
Hastings RNLI lifeboat operations manager Sarah Milne said : 'This was a fantastic day for Hastings lifeboat. All of these volunteers had worked hard to achieve the standards necessary, and I am so pleased that all passed.
'The RNLI depends on its volunteers to save lives 24/7, in all conditions, and needs them to meet demanding standards so that they are able to do this safely. I am really proud and delighted that nine of our volunteers were able to show that they meet these standards in one really successful day.'
