Whitby RNLI calendar sales bring fundraising total to £16493.48

Lifeboats News Release

The fundraiser has been running for the past three years.

RNLI/Ceri Oakes

Whitby RNLI Lifeboat curator Neil Williamson has the idea back in 2023 to create a Whitby RNLI calendar.

Neil has archived hundreds of old photos of the RNLI in Whitby which inspired his idea.

Neil said: 'The old photos are fascinating and also show how lifeboating has evolved over the years. They contrast well with the modern colour photos of our current lifeboats.

Whitby is a very photogenic town so we hoped that the calendars would be popular and we are thrilled to have raised over £16,000.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped to sell the calendar as well as everyone who purchased one, or sometimes more. The money raised goes directly to the charity, helping to save lives at sea.'

If you missed out on buying a 2026 calendar, don't worry there are a small quantity left, for further details email Neil at [email protected]
