St Ives RNLI welcomes first Crew Representative to Operations Team
St Ives RNLI Lifeboat Station is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Le Bas as the station’s first Crew Representative on the Operations Team.
This newly introduced role will ensure that the voices of the crew are heard directly in the monthly management meetings, alongside the Lifeboat Operations Manager, Coxswains, Senior Station Technician, Launch Authorities, Lifeboat Press Officer and Lifeboat Admin Officer.
The Crew Representative will hold a seat at the table to share valuable feedback from the crew, strengthening communication and collaboration across the station.
Following a recent vote among the crew, Paul Le Bas was elected to represent them. Paul brings a wealth of dedication and passion to the role, having served at the station since October 2011.
Paul shared his thoughts on the appointment: ‘I moved to St Ives in 1996 after meeting my wife on the beach. St Ives kindly accepted me and I wanted to give something back to the community. By joining the crew, I feel that I have gone a little way towards doing that. Having the opportunity to represent the crew is a real honour for me, especially having been voted in by them makes it even more special.’
Outside of his lifeboat duties, Paul works for Aspects Holidays, covering the North Coast. Aspects Holidays are proud supporters of the work carried out at St Ives Lifeboat Station and the team would like to extend their thanks for this ongoing support.
Paul added: ‘I would also like to thank the town for all their support of the station and help over the years, and to the visitors to the town. Without this support, the station and crew would not be able to do what we do.’
The introduction of the Crew Representative role marks an important step in ensuring that the lifeboat station continues to thrive through teamwork, transparency and community support.
