Vicars Cross Golf Club Captains, Jenny Hunt and Paul Harrison, visited Hoylake RNLI to present the club’s generous donation

The impressive total was achieved through a charity events, raffles and fundraising initiatives organised throughout 2025 by Club Captains Jenny Hunt and Paul Harrison, who selected the Wirral lifeboat station as their chosen charity for their year in office.

The lifesaving funds were boosted further by a £500 contribution through Lloyds Bank’s match funding scheme.

The RNLI provides a 24/7 maritime search and rescue service around the coast of the UK and Ireland, with volunteer crews often launching into challenging conditions. Generous support from local communities is crucial for ensuring crews have the training, equipment and kit they need to launch to the rescue safely.

Jenny and Paul recently visited Hoylake RNLI lifeboat station to see first-hand the work of its volunteer crew. During the visit, they met Coxswain Howie Owen and Lifeboat Visits Officer Brian Jordan, who received the donation and thanked the captains and club members for their generous support.

Brian said: ‘We are extremely grateful to the Vicars Cross Golf Club for this wonderful donation. The club’s members really showed their commitment to driving up support and chipping in donations for our lifesaving charity. The funds raised will be vital for helping our crew to save lives at sea.’
