A member of the Lytham St Annes Art Society, Trevor Loftus, was inspired to paint the Lytham St Annes Lifeboat at sea with a Sea King helicopter by a talk given to the group about the local RNLI station. The dramatic scene shows the former Lytham Lifeboat Her Majesty the Queen in rough weather with the helicopter hovering nearby.

Trevor recently moved to the Scottish east coast and decided the best place for his painting was back at Lytham St Annes to benefit the local RNLI. On returning to the Fylde coast to meet friends at Christmas, Trevor, along with his wife Debra, were welcomed to the Lytham St Annes All-weather Lifeboat House on South Promenade, where they presented the painting to Coxswain Tom Stuart and Chris Wrigley, Head of the Station’s Fundraising and Visits Team.

Chris Wrigley said as he accepted the painting: 'This is a fantastic gift by Trevor and thank you to him for thinking of us and the local RNLI. We will decide the best way to use the painting to benefit the our charity's rescue work in Lytham St Annes.'

Having seen the excellent painting before he returned it to Lytham St Annes, the RNLI lifeboat station near to where Trevor has moved, have already asked him to do a painting of a lifeboat theme for them, so his generous support for the charity will continue in the future.
