Hastings RNLI welcomes generous cheque from beach concert organisers
Hastings RNLI has welcomed a cheque for £3000 from the organisers of the ‘Nearly On the Beach’ concert.
The ‘Nearly On the Beach’ concert is traditionally the big event which marks the opening of Hastings Old Town Carnival Week in August every year. It is organised entirely by volunteers on the Stade open space, a purpose-built events space in Hastings Old Town.
Carol Sharpe, the chair of the concert organising committee, said :- “We put on the concert every year to raise funds for local charities. Hastings RNLI does a tremendous job locally, and we are very pleased to help it in its great work. This year’s event will be held over the weekend of 1st/2nd August, and we hope to see a great crowd there again then, to help us continue to raise funds for local charities.”
Paul Freathy, chair of Hastings RNLI Lifeboat Management Group, added : ‘The ‘Nearly On The Beach’ Concert organisers have always been great supporters of Hastings RNLI station. They work incredibly hard to put on a fantastic event every year. They are all volunteers, and the RNLI relies on volunteers too to enable us to save lives at sea 24/7. This £3000 will be put to good use to ensure that our crew have what they need to allow them to continue this work. We are very grateful indeed to the concert organisers, and the many people who support their concert every year. Thank you.’
