But fear not, on this occasion there was no major incident to be concerned about however, their presence had been at the request of Whitstable RNLI to take part in the station’s Emergency Services Day and showcase the work of the emergency services and to promote various safety messages and advice.

Whitstable RNLI’s Ollie Myhill said “This is the second year we have held the event and it is bigger than last year”

“Our colleagues from Kent Fire and Rescue, British Transport Police, the South East Coast Ambulance Service, Serv Kent Bloodrunners, the National Coast Watch Institution, the Air Ambulance, the British Diver Marine Life Rescue and of course the H.M.Coastguard have all taken part and have been kept busy chatting with the visitors to the harbour and lifeboat station and explaining how they go about their work.

“All really enjoyed the day and our colleagues in the other services report they have had many meaningful conversations and look forward to coming back next year and I have to say the event proved very popular with our younger visitors who seemed to easily find the sirens on many of the vehicles present!”.
