The Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington with her volunteer crew, proceeded towards the area to ascertain the situation.

When the lifeboat arrived, the vessel had two adults and two children aboard all wearing lifejackets. A request of other vessels to assist the boat had resulted in a sailing vessel standing by the boat.

An assessment was been made by the lifeboat helm in consultation with the Coastguard as to the best course of action to be taken; It was decided that vessel would be creating a navigation hazard, and as no other craft suitable for taking her in tow had responded. For safety reasons, the lifeboat would tow the boat to the nearest safe haven. This being the Marina at Conwy where the Llandudno Mobile Coastguard Team would be in attendance to assist with the berthing.

Once this task had been completed the lifeboat was released by the Coastguard and she arrived at Beaumaris at 4,55 pm to be refuelled and cleaned. Once this had been completed the crew left the station.

A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘The informant did the correct thing in alerting the Coastguard to the situation. This meant our volunteer lifeboat crew were able to reach the location quickly, assess the situation and take the best course of action to prevent the situation worsening.’
