RNLI Open Day generates a fantastic sum thanks to the generosity of visitors

Visitors had the opportunity to explore the lifeboat station, board the all-weather lifeboat, take part in the activities that stalls had to offer including how to stay safe in the water, listen to live music, and to meet the station’s mascot Stormy Stan. The Blackpool Newfoundlands were also featured in the event, and displayed how their pups rescue people in difficulty in the water, and the RNLI volunteers boarded the inshore lifeboat to oversee the operation and put on a display of their own.

As a whole, the event raised over £2,300 for the charity thanks to the generosity of public donations and funds raised from the stalls and entertainment.

A spokesperson for Rhyl RNLI said:

'We were happy to see the turnout for the event, and are happy with the success of the event. The weather was kind to us, and it was lovely to see people making their way along the prom to the event.'

'We would like to extend our thanks to the people who helped with the event and the public, as we can only do what we do thanks to the local community and the support they give us.'
