Fern Britton shares a Letter to Editor, celebrating RNLI Lifeguards

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to highlight to your readers that the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is marking 25 years of keeping beaches safer with their world class lifeguard service this year.

Having lived near the coast for many years, I know first-hand how important this service is. Since 2001, RNLI lifeguards have saved 2,165 lives and aided 459,354 people through water rescue, returning lost children, delivering first aid and casualty care.

They have responded to 333, 330 incidents and carried out more than 48M preventative actions.

From beach safety and prevention to rescuing those in the water and delivering casualty care, RNLI lifeguards are prepared to deal with any situation they might face.

[as we approach the Bank Holiday/the summer/warmer weather] I would urge anyone visiting the coast to find a RNLI lifeguarded beach if possible.

As a mum, just knowing that there are RNLI lifeguards on a beach keeping my family safe makes such a difference. I would like to say thank you to all the RNLI lifeguards that have helped make our beaches safer over the last 25 years [and look forward to seeing you there this summer.]
