Llandudno RNLI responds to concern for paddleboarder off Rhos-on-Sea

Llandudno RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was tasked shortly after 4pm on Saturday 8 August following a report of concern for a paddleboarder off Rhos-on-Sea.

A member of the public had been monitoring the paddleboarder from shore but became concerned after losing sight of the paddleboard. They feared the person may have entered the water and could be in difficulty.

The lifeboat proceeded to the area and, with assistance from Llandudno Coastguard, located the paddleboarder.
Upon coming alongside, the volunteer crew established that the paddleboarder was safe and well and was simply enjoying a day out on the water.

The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

This was a false alarm with good intent. Llandudno RNLI would like to reassure members of the public that if they see someone they believe may be in danger at sea or around the coast, they should always report their concerns by calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard. It is far better to raise the alarm than to assume someone is safe when they may be in trouble.
