Angle RNLI assist rigid inflatable off Skomer Island

On Monday 3 August the all-weather lifeboat was tasked to locate and assist a 7m rigid inflatable with five persons onboard, which had broken down off the Mew Stone on the south-western tip of Skomer Island.

The lifeboat launched shortly after and was on scene around 25 minutes later, where a local passenger vessel had responded to keep the vessel out of any further danger until the lifeboat arrived on scene.

After assessing the situation it was decided that the safest option was to take the vessel under tow. A tow was rigged and the crew began proceeding towards East Angle Bay.

Upon arrival just off East Angle Bay around two hours later, the vessel was placed into an alongside tow and taken into the bay.

With no further assistance required the crew were stood down and returned to station where the lifeboat was back alongside the jetty and readied for further service by 2pm.
