D Class launched to paddleboarder in Studland Bay
A team from HM Coastguard spotted a paddleboarder about a mile off the shore in Studland Bay. They requested the launch of the D Class inshore lifeboat (ILB) to investigate.
A Coastguard Rescue Team had been on routine patrol when they spotted a paddleboard quite a distance from the shore. The ILB eventually managed to locate the paddleboard and speak to the person on board. They had launched from a yacht, not the beach, and were able to make their way safely back to it.
Satisfied that the person was not in danger, the lifeboat reported its findings to HM Coastguard and turned for home. The ILB was back at the station at 3:16pm and was made ready for the next service.
