Fish and Chip supper supports Burnham-on-Sea RNLI
Last March, 2025, members of Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club were treated to a talk by Burnham RNLI lifeboat volunteer guest speakers.
When the Corinthian club members extended a further invitation for 25 March, 2026, the Burnham-on-Sea RNLI management team suggested that the sailing club members instead could attend the lifeboat station for a conducted tour of the lifeboats, launch tractors and other equipment, before watching the lifeboats training launch at their regular time of 7.30 pm.
After the launch, the visitors were hosted by Burnham-on-Sea Motor Boat and Sailing Club for an organised fish and chip supper, which raised £250 for the RNLI. During the evening, a bucket collection was also passed around the room thus raising further funds for the charity.
Sailing club spokesman Karl Evans said of the evening; ‘The professionalism and enthusiasm of the lifeboat volunteers is impressive and they take pride in their lifeboats. We really enjoyed our visit. The fish and chips were tasty and rounded off an excellent evening
Lifeboat Operations Manager Matt Davies added; ‘We enjoy close relations with Burnham Motor Boat and Sailing Club, and were pleased that we were able to host the visiting club. The money raised will go towards keeping our volunteer crew safe at sea.
