Porthdinllaen RNLI launched to assist boat with mechanical failure
Porthdinllaen` s All Weather Lifeboat were tasked at 1:10 PM on Sunday, after UK Coastguard had received a call that a craft needed assistance near Porthysgaden, Tudweiliog.
Launching with a compliment of Volunteer crew on board and Coxswain Adam Daniel at the helm, the Tamar Class Lifeboat made the best possible speed towards the last known location of the craft.
Nearing Porthysgaden, further details were received that a local fishing boat had responded to a Pan-Pan assistance call and had managed to secure a tow line to the craft. After assessing the situation, Coxswain Adam Daniel decided that, with the two occupants of the broken-down craft needing no medical care, that it was safe for the fishing vessel to continue with the tow to Porth y Cychod, with the lifeboat escorting both boats.
With both crafts safely ashore, the lifeboat was relieved of its duties and returned to its station, where it was washed down, refuelled and ready for service by 2:45 PM.
Coxswain Adam Daniel added “The occupants of the 17-foot boat made the right choice decision in calling for assistance, although our services were not needed, it was decided as precautionary measure that the lifeboat would escort both crafts to the safety of Porth y Cychod. As always, we advise anybody that ventures to sea, whether for pleasure or as a living, to inform someone ashore what your intentions are, and when you are likely to return”
