Following a rigorous programme of training and assessment, Reece has demonstrated the leadership, technical ability, and calm decision-making required to take command of the RNLI’s most advanced all-weather lifeboat. The Shannon class lifeboat, renowned for its speed, manoeuvrability, and modern technology, requires the highest standards from those entrusted to command it.

Reece’s progression to Coxswain reflects years of dedication as part of the volunteer crew, developing his seamanship and operational expertise in often challenging conditions on the Cromarty Firth and surrounding waters. His achievement is also a testament to the support and teamwork of fellow crew members and RNLI trainers.

Speaking after passing out, Reece said:
“It’s a huge honour to pass out as a Shannon Coxswain at Invergordon. I’m incredibly proud to be part of such a committed crew and grateful for the support I’ve received throughout my training. I look forward to continuing to serve the local community and helping to save lives at sea.”

In his new role, Reece will take command of the Invergordon Shannon Class lifeboat 'Agnes AP Barr' during service and training launches, leading volunteer crew in emergencies and ensuring the vessel and crew are always ready to respond.

The RNLI continues to rely on dedicated volunteers like Reece to carry out its lifesaving work around the coasts of the UK and Ireland, with Invergordon Lifeboat Station playing a vital role in protecting those at sea in the north of Scotland.

Invergordon Coxswain Gavin Mackenzie said 'Reece has shown great commitment, professionalism, and determination throughout his training, and passing out as Coxswain is a well-deserved achievement. He has worked hard to reach this stage, and I have no doubt he will be a real asset to the team moving forward. Everyone at Invergordon is proud of what he has accomplished, and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop in the role'
