Calshot RNLI Network With Solent Crews
On Sunday 19 April, Calshot RNLI crews joined up with flank stations for a Solent Lifeboat Meetup.
Meeting up with flank stations from Bembridge, Yarmouth and Portsmouth, crews moored at Trinity Landing and were kindly hosted by Cowes RNLI at their station.
Once there, it provided crews the opportunity to connect with colleagues from other stations and build a stronger understanding of the different capabilities of each station based on their specific lifeboats.
After spending approximately one hour at Cowes station, crews reboarded their respective boats and made their way back to their home stations.
Kelley Leonard, Navigator at Calshot RNLI, who helped to organise the event said of the meetup: ‘We are often tasked alongside flank stations and those taskings can be complex and lengthy operations. Having the chance to connect with other volunteer crew members from those stations and build deeper relationships will only help us in our goal to save lives at sea. Cowes RNLI getting a shout during the meetup highlights the fact that crews are never off duty and always ready to assist those who need our help in their time of need.’
