Peter was Porthcawl RNLI’s second president since an RNLI inshore lifeboat station was re-established in the town in 1965.

A presentation was held on Sunday 29 April in which His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan, Mr. Peter Vaughan QPM CStJ presented Peter with his certificate of service and a framed picture of Peter with HRH Princess Anne from her visit to the station in 2015.

Station chair Ian Stroud thanked Peter for his service and presented a gift and volunteer helm Chris Missen presented a further thank you gift on behalf of the crew.

Over the years Peter has supported many visits to the station from RNLI management, the Royal family and former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Porthcawl RNLI chair Ian Stroud said: ‘Peter Scott has been a loyal and trustworthy volunteer at Porthcawl RNLI during his 32 years as president. He has been very supportive to the lifeboat station in so many ways, representing us with honour on the many important visits we have had at the station. During my time as chair of the lifeboat management group Peter has been a great ally, a gentleman, friend and counsellor and he was dedicated to the welfare and smooth running of our operations. On behalf of all our volunteers I thank Peter for his long service and wish him good health and happiness for the future.’
