Aldeburgh RNLI NEW Youth Activity Scheme
Aldeburgh RNLI is pleased to announce they are starting a Youth Activity Scheme for 16 to 18 year olds
If you are based in Aldeburgh, Leiston, Saxmundham, Snape or anywhere in between you can learn activities such as ropework, basic first aid, basic navigation, use of personal protective equipment and lifejackets, preparing lifeboats and equipment for launch, assisting in recovery of lifeboats, radio-use, throw bag training, marshalling, and maintaining the lifeboat station, among other skills.
Some of these activities can be used for Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver level ‘learn a new skill’ and ‘volunteering’ components.
Please note that RNLI Aldeburgh are not running a Duke of Edinburgh scheme, but they can help those who are undertaking the qualification.
Youth activities at the Lifeboat Station will always be done under the direct supervision of trained volunteers who have been DBS checked. Parental permission and support is mandatory.

Aldeburgh lifeboat station has been operating since 1826 and has been part of the RNLI since 1852. Since formation, their lifeboats have launched 1,267 times and saved 693 lives.
Aldeburgh lifeboat station has two boats on service: B-class Atlantic 85, Ralph, and D-class inshore lifeboat, Susan Scott.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service.
