Whitby RNLI welcome two new Launch Authorities to the team of volunteers.
Tim Cole and Adrian Fusco passed their assessments this week to join the crew.
The pair began volunteering last year, getting to know the lifeboat station operations and crew.
They completed a series of training exercises before being assessed by trainer/assessor Matt Blanchard on Monday (30th March)
Tim and Adrian both bring sea-faring experience to the role with Tim having a background in the fishing industry and Adrian an active member of Whitby Yacht Club.
They take on the role after the retirement of Stephen upright and Barry Snedden last year.
Senior Station Technician Richard Dowson said: 'We are very grateful to Stephen and Barry for their time and commitment to the role.'
Tim and Adrian will now carry a pager and be responsible alongside the other station Launch Authorities for liaising with the Coastguard to task both of Whitby's lifeboats when someone is in trouble at sea.
The Launch Authorities decide whether to launch the inshore lifeboat, all weather or both depending on the emergency.
Lifeboat Operations Manager Barry Brown said: 'Congratulations to Tim and Adrian on becoming fully fledged Launch Authorities. They will both be an asset to our team of volunteers here at Whitby RNLI'
