As the end of the summer holidays sees schools return and the weather beginning to cool, our RNLI lifesavers on some of Jersey’s beaches end their lifeguard patrols until next year. Lifeguard patrols at Plémont and Grève de Lecq will conclude on Sunday 14 September.

RNLI lifeguards will continue to patrol daily from 10am to 6pm at St Ouens (Le Braye, El Tico and Watersplash) and St Brelade’s Bay until Sunday 28 September.

At Le Braye, RNLI lifeguards will continue patrols on weekends only on 4-5, 11-12 and 18-19 October, and daily patrols will return for the October half term holiday, from Saturday 25 October until Sunday 2 November.

The RNLI works in partnership with the States of Jersey government each year to set up and roll out a lifeguard service, at their request. Setting up a lifeguard service each season for the States involves several different elements, including recruiting and training lifeguards and organising the logistics to deliver equipment to the beaches.

Jake Elms, RNLI Lead Lifeguard Supervisor for Jersey, said:

‘For Jersey’s RNLI lifeguard teams, the summer is always anticipated to be very busy, and the 2025 peak season has been no exception. Our teams worked especially hard throughout the busy August bank holiday, and when the huge swell from Storm Erin created dangerous sea conditions.

‘As we begin to see our beaches concluding patrols from this Sunday, I would like to thank our incredible life savers for the immense dedication and skill they have shown this year.

‘In addition, I’d like to thank the States of Jersey for their support which allows us to provide the service and help continue to keep people safe when they head to the coast.’
