Cromer RNLI marks 134 years of street collecting
Cromer RNLI fundraising Guild held community events raising over £1100.
On Saturday 11 October, the Cromer Ladies Lifeboat Guild and supporters commemorated the anniversary of the first street collection, held in Manchester on 11 October 1891. Volunteers dressed in period costume and joined the town centre fundraising, which raised over £570, while the coffee morning contributed a further £600.
Cromer RNLI and The Guild would like to thank all the collectors, bakers, coffee morning helpers, and members of the wider lifeboat station family who gave their time, as well as the local community for their support.
Liz Holehouse, Chair of the Guild said: 'These events wouldn’t be possible without the tireless commitment of our volunteers and the generosity of the community. Fundraising has been part of Cromer’s lifeboat story for well over a century, and it is inspiring to see that same spirit of support alive today. Every pound raised helps ensure we can continue our lifesaving work.'
