RNLI Tighnabruaich fundraisers on a roll
The efforts of the fundraising team continued with a day in the Morrisons store in Dunoon on Friday 10th October. Packing shopping, meeting supporters, collecting and offering a pop-up shop raised a grand total of £1257.25.
Fundraiser Tricia Jones explained “we are so grateful to Dunoon Morrisons who allowed us to set up, we were extremely well supported by the shoppers, and the staff, and to Stormy Stan whose presence massively boosted donations!”
This followed on from the efforts of volunteers Jane and Sue, who ran a Just Giving page in support of the RNLI while they trained to run the Kyles 10 Miles road race back in September. Although Sue sustained an injury and could not run on the day, the efforts of the two local volunteers amassed an amazing £1050 from their efforts.
All donations are gratefully received as the charity is entirely independent of any government support. Supporters are often keen to direct funds to their local station however all stations need the support of centrally gathered donations to fund training, technical and training support and the specialist equipment which enables operations.
The great effort of the local fundraising team continues year-round including operating the lifeboat station shop in Tighnabruaich, generating much appreciated support for the charity that saves lives at sea.
