Berwick-upon-Tweed RNLI receives generous donation
Berwick-upon-Tweed RNLI lifeboat station was paid a visit by Councillor Guy Renner-Thompson Vice Chair of Northumberland Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority (NFCA) accompanied by Berwick-upon-Tweed Town Councillor Catherine Seymore.
The reason for their visit was that Berwick-upon-Tweed RNLI had been chosen at random amongst other local lifeboat stations in the NFCA area, as the lucky recipient in having a split of £4,450, monies that had been raised from an auction of fishing gear.
The other half going to the Fisherman’s Mission North Shields.
Volunteer RNLI Helmsman Michael Avril, said: 'We thank you so much for your kind donation of £2,225.00, this money will be used in helping train our volunteers and towards buying personal protective equipment, to keep our volunteer lifeboat crew safe, whilst saving lives at sea.’
