Redcar RNLI Ladies Guild celebrate Long Service badges
Volunteer crew from Redcar RNLI met with members of the Redcar Lifeboat Ladies Guild to acknowledge their extraordinary dedication in helping to raise funds so that Redcar RNLI can keep on saving lives at sea.
The Ladies Guild has supported Redcar Lifeboat Station since their formation in 1921 and since then have raised many thousands of pounds through the numerous events they have organised and run. As well as these many events the Ladies Guild have always been great supporters of Redcar RNLI’s Flag Day activities where they run many stalls, raising money and helping to add to the busy atmosphere of the day.
The badges were presented by Dave Cocks Chairman at Redcar RNLI to Jenny Emmerson 50 years, Linda Emmerson 50 years, Annie Briggs 30 years, Barbara Maenami 30 years, Joan Fairweather 20 years and Val Knaggs 20 years.
Dave Cocks, Chairman of Redcar RNLI, said: 'It was a great honour to present members of Redcar RNLI Ladies Guild with their long service badges. Lifeboat Ladies' Guilds were officially recognised in 1921 and they've been the mainstay of our fundraising effort ever since. It's remarkable to think that, between the six ladies who received their awards, there is over 200 years of dedicated service. It was a special privilege to present mother and daughter Jenny and Linda Emmerson with their 50-year long service badges. It can't have happened very often that a combined 100 years of fundraising is recognised in this way.'
