Martyn achieved qualifications as both a bobcat driver and an ILB Head Launcher, while Ewa qualified as an ILB Head Launcher. Each assessment involved a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical demonstration, requiring candidates to prove they could safely launch and recover the inshore lifeboat during training exercises and service calls.

The ILB Head Launcher role involves assessing beach conditions, coordinating all shore-based activity, and ensuring launches and recoveries are conducted safely, efficiently, and in line with operational standards.

The bobcat driver role requires precise operation of the bobcat and trailer, transporting the inshore lifeboat to and from launch and recovery sites and operating with confidence and accuracy.
