Troon RNLI launches to broken down vessel near Stevenston

Lifeboats News Release

At 2.01pm Monday 17 November 2025, the crew pagers were activated by Belfast Coastguard after reports of a broken-down vessel off the coast at Stevenston.

With no other vessels in the immediate area to assist, Troon RNLI D class inshore lifeboat Sheena was soon launched and heading to locate the vessel alongside the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team who were also tasked to provide assistance from the shore.

The volunteer crew headed to the scene locating the 7m vessel with two persons on board and after discussion soon had it under tow to Stevenston Point.

After a short tow, the vessel was soon alongside the slipway where it was met by the coastguard team.

With the persons and vessel safely ashore, the lifeboats were able to return to station where they were made 'Ready for Service' with the assistance of the shore crew and the crew returned home.
