Keith Cartwright-Jones, chair and founder of the Saxmundham Judo Club said: 'Every year, our volunteer captain selects a charity to support. This year's captain, Jake Cox, selected Aldeburgh RNLI and the Saxmundham Veterans Breakfast Club.'

Martin Quinn, volunteer Launch Operations Manager at Aldeburgh RNLI said: 'In early 2025, the Saxmundham Judo Club invited us to attend their weekly meeting and talk about our lifesaving activities. At this meeting they asked if they could fundraise for us. We were delighted to be chosen among all the good causes locally. On Wednesday 12 November we revisited their training session and were given a very generous £2,850 cheque. Their support helps ensure our volunteers have the equipment and training needed to save lives at sea.'

Keith continued: 'We were invited to a tour of the lifeboat station, and to watch a training launch of Ralph, the Aldeburgh Atlantic 85 lifeboat. WOW! What a spectacular visit and such a warm welcome. Watching the launch with a large group from the club shows how important and appreciated the lifeboat crew are, and how grateful we are for the commitment of everyone involved at RNLI Aldeburgh.'

The RNLI is entirely independent of government. All rescues are only possible thanks to kind donations from supporters. Every penny makes a difference.
