Launch to Assist Distressed Person

Lifeboats News Release

Following a launch request received by our Launch Authority from Falmouth Coastguard at 9.17pm our crew were paged and RNLB Rose launched on service at 9.30pm.

Geoff Squibb

We had been asked to proceed to the vicinity of Coverack having received reports of an emotionally distressed male wandering the cliff path. Coastguard Rescue Teams from Mullion and Porthoustock were also in attendance along with Devon and Cornwall Police.

Under the command of Second Coxswain Darren Thirlaway the lifeboat arrived on scene at 9.42pm and approached with caution. Our smaller Y-boat was deployed and two lifeboat crew members carried out a shoreline search to ensure that the male had not entered the water. A short time later it was confirmed that the gentleman was safely located and taken in to the care of the police.

RNLB Rose returned to the station at 10.50pm where she was rehoused and made ready for service again when required by 11.15pm.
