Fun Run

It was great that our local RNLI Lymington Lifeboat Station and their volunteers were able to once again host the annual Lymington Lifeboat 10K and Children’s Fun Runs. The local community charity event, which celebrated its 21st year, raises funds for the local station and will primarily help raise funds for crew lifesaving kit and crew training. This is the largest fundraising event of the year and will raise in the order of £25,000 for the Lymington Lifeboat Station. This year the event attracted 917 entrants for the 10K and just over 300 children, who ran in the four age group categories. Our most generous sponsors of the event cover the cost of the event being put on so that all the entrants entry fees, individual sponsorship and donations all go to the lifeboat station.

The main 10K event, who’s headline sponsor, is the Yacht Haven Group and the Children’s Runs are sponsored and supported by The Daily Mile and is delivered worldwide by the organisation, in partnership with INEOS.

Other Sponsors and contributors, that the Lifeboat Crew are indebted to (there are too many to mention them all), are, Chewton Glen, Draycott Surveyors, Elliotts, SenSpa, Colten Care, Dunfords, HM Coastguards, Lymington and Pennington Town Council, for the use of Woodside Park and of course the Mayor, Cllr Jack Davies.

Richard Clarke, volunteer crew member and the event leader said; “The 21st ‘Run In The Sun’ was truly memorable, and once again, I have been bowled over by the Lymington Lifeboat Crew; their organisation and professionalism in delivering the infrastructure to put on this event is second to none. It is reflective of everything they do on a day to day basis when they undertake their RNLI volunteer roles. A massive thank you to everyone involved, who supported us, and we very much look forward to commencing the planning stages for next year’s event, which we hope will be bigger and better, on the 10 May 2026.”
