Stormy Stan to join RNLI fundraisers in Bakewell for Mayday finale
RNLI Matlock and Bakewell Fundraising Branch is inviting everyone to join them in Bakewell on Saturday 31 May for their annual Flag Day. A day of fun and fundraising during their street collection with a special appearance by RNLI mascot Stormy Stan.
As part of the RNLI’s Mayday Mile appeal, several members of the Matlock and Bakewell fundraising branch have taken on the fundraising challenge of walking a mile a day throughout May. To mark the final day of the appeal, the group plans to complete their last mile by walking into Bakewell. Where they will be welcomed by Stormy Stan himself, creating a perfect photo opportunity.
There will also be a souvenir stall in town for those wanting to support the RNLI’s vital work and take home a gift that keeps on giving.
Rod Shiers, Chairman of the Matlock and Bakewell Fundraising Branch, said: ‘This is an important fundraising opportunity for the RNLI, and we are really grateful to everyone who has supported the Mayday Mile appeal. With the appeal ending on the day we’re collecting in Bakewell, it’s fantastic that Stormy Stan will be there to greet the team as they finish their final mile. We hope it brings a smile to people’s faces and encourages even more support for the RNLI’s lifesaving work.’
Vital funds raised will go towards supporting the RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards across the UK and Ireland. You can support Matlock and Bakewell team by donating online via their Mayday Mile page.
