Sunday Lunchtime Launch on Service for The Lizard RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

Our pagers sounded following an immediate launch request received by Falmouth Coastguard.

RNLI/Lyndsay Bray

Under the command of Second Coxswain Darren Thirlaway RNLB Rose launched on service at 1.28pm to go to the assistance of a female paddle border seen to be drifting out to sea approximately 400 meters off Poldhu Cove, Mullion.

Just prior to the lifeboats arrival on scene we were informed by Falmouth Coastguard that thankfully the casualty had been assisted back to shore by a fellow kayaker. RNLB Rose continued in to Poldhu Cove to ensure that all was well and the casualty was no longer in need of our assistance.

Coastguard Rescue teams from Mullion and Porthoustock were also in attendance. RNLB Rose departed the scene at 1.54pm and arrived back at the lifeboat station where she was rehoused and made ready for service again when required by 2.42pm.
