Call out for Silloth RNLI lifeboat
Whilst out on a training exercise on Sunday (23 March), Silloth RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew received a call to a report of a person entering the water at Carsthorn.
Pagers sounded at 11:38am to a report of a person going into the water at Carsthorn whilst the lifeboat was on exercise. The volunteer lifeboat crew made their way to the area, whilst on route they were told to stand down by HM Coastguard as the person was ashore and with the emergency services.
Lifeboat and crew made their way back to West Beach where they were recovered and made their way back to the lifeboat station where the lifeboat was made ready for service.
Chris Clark Helm said: 'We were just finishing our morning's training exercise when we had a radio call to assist with this incident. We immediately headed over to the Carsthorn area. Whilst travelling over we got the radio call to say to stand down and I'm pleased that the person was safely ashore.
'Our volunteer lifeboat crew are always ready to answer the call for help, no matter when it comes. Without the the generosity of our supporters, we couldn't keep saving lives at sea.'
