Adrmore Christmas Swim receive Certificate of Thanks
Ardmore Christmas Swim was founded in 1996 and every year the group hold a swim
on Christmas morning where all proceeds go directly to Youghal RNLI to help save
lives at sea.
During the lead up to the big day, the group raise funds via various fundraising
endeavours including bucket collections, sponsorship cards and a raffle with prizes
donated from the local community.
On handing over the funds raised on Saturday, John Hearne, Youghal RNLI Lifeboat
Operations Manager, in turn presented the group with a Certificate of Thanks from the
RNLI’s Chief Executive Peter Sparkes in recognition of everyone’s dedicated and
longstanding support during which time, the group has raised over €100,000.
Speaking after Jogn said: ‘The raising of over €100,000 over the past almost 30 years
which they do in memory of their loved ones, shows that the generous human spirit is
still alive and well in Ardmore. These funds will be used by our charity to enable our
volunteers to save lives at sea and when the call for help comes in, we’ll answer it. Well
done to Mary and Siobhan Murray for making it happen and to the whole team and
wider community in Ardmore for the super support.’
