Saturday shout for Largs RNLI
On Saturday 15 March 2025 the pagers of the volunteer crew based at Largs RNLI sounded shortly before 8:30pm.
Saturday evening plans were interrupted for the volunteers as they responded to their pagers and assembled quickly at the lifeboat station.
The inshore lifeboat at Largs RNLI was quickly launched in response to a report from Police Scotland of a missing jet ski with one person onboard.
HM Coastguard provided the lifeboat crew with search coordinates to begin a search along the shoreline on the east side of Cumbrae.
The lifeboat was quickly joined in their search by Rescue 199, the Coastguard helicopter based at Prestwick Airport, who were tasked with coordinates to begin a search in the main channel.
Following a short search Police Scotland advised they had located the missing person and the search was called off.
Largs lifeboat was stood down by HM Coastguard and returned to the lifeboat station where it was cleaned, refuelled and made ready for service.
